SEO Assistant



Job description

We are looking for an SEO Assistant to join our expanding digital team to help drive SEO performance. You will need to be confident in producing great content that not only engages and informs our customers but helps increase traffic to our websites and improves our domain authority.

The Role

This is a hands-on role that encompasses planning, creating, uploading and analysing content. Under the guidance of your line manager, you’ll focus on improving SEO performance drawing on your previous experience, through sound research into our sector, always considering our audiences, and search engines. You will need strong organisational skill, a data led approach, creativity, and be able to manage multiple projects at once.

You will have a good understanding of the customer funnel, persona-focused content marketing, hands-on experience in creating content across multiple formats, and be willing to expand your knowledge into video marketing. You will be confident at researching and using insight to drive your content plan delivery. You will be able to combine your natural flair for creative writing with a solid understanding of keyword research to create content that persuades users as much as it does search engines.

This is a hand-on, varied role which will include:

o Creating SEO meta descriptions, titles and tags.

o Work with the buying team to ensure all product descriptions are optimised for SEO.

o Ensure all category copy is relevant and up to date regarding products, seasonality, and trends to maximise SEO performance.

o Work with the Content Manager to brainstorm ideas and curate engaging and purposeful content for our blogs.

o Making an impact through content and storytelling - using well-researched, creative content that differentiates our brands.

o Working closely with the Content Manger to produce new blog content via WordPress, including both SEO-optimised and engagement-focused content, that is aligned to trending search terms, product launches and campaigns.

o Work collaboratively with the product and marketing teams; supporting new product launches and brand messages and turning them into content for multiple streams that tell a story, provide value and delight readers. In turn, you'll be increasing our web traffic and positively impacting our new business campaigns.

o Assist with monthly reporting and measuring various performance metrics to track and report on performance using tools like Google Analytics, ahrefs, SEMrush etc.

o Assist in the delivery of the content calendar that supports a regular cadence of new campaigns to address opportunities in our sales funnel or through specific personas.

o Working with the wider team to integrate insightful content into all our other channels and to curate case studies, research pieces, interviews and surveys.

o Identifying and proactively contacting third parties for content sharing / back links.

Your experience

o 1 year + experience in a similar role

o SEO experience, good HTML knowledge and experience with Google Analytics and other SEO tools – and keen to develop these skills at pace

o Be able to ideate, research and write targeted content

o Experience in using CMS systems such as WordPress and Umbraco

o Excellent communication skills and research skills

o Strong understanding of content, either in Brand or Ecommerce, with knowledge on the importance of content management

o Experience in managing a content calendar

o Creative copywriting experience

o Data driven, to drive results and continuous improvement

o An eye for detail and the ability to come up with ideas.

o An understanding of end-to-end customer needs, journeys, and behaviours

o Be ambitious to learn new digital tactics and develop all of the above

Competitive salary and benefits package including 25 days holiday per year plus an additional Birthday holiday, contributory pension scheme and staff discounts. We are currently working from home and our office in Hyde, Greater Manchester, with 2/3 days per week in the office.
