We have a fantastic opportunity to join our friendly & supportive team here at Findel as a Buyer.
Responsible for curricular and SEN product ranges, you’ll ensure that teachers have everything they need to deliver lessons that inspire the next generation of learners.
Reporting to the Buying Manager, you’ll be an expert in buying customer focussed products at the right price to deliver profit through collaborative working with internal and external stakeholders. You will be a strong negotiator and trader of your category, KPI driven, a strong decision maker and commercially focussed.
Your Role:
o Collaborate with Merchandising to roll up budgets, margin and pricing architecture for products.
o Monitor and tackle trading performance – identifying all ways possible to deliver KPIs.
o Partner with Merchandising to ensure product coverage and the best possible stock management.
o Gather data from various sources to be able to analyse, report and ultimately trade effectively, reacting to opportunities and chasing growth.
o Maintain & strengthen supplier relationships, conduct supplier negotiations and manage commercial terms (including rebates) to support delivery of KPIs.
o Develop a deep understanding of the market, customer and competition and demonstrate clarity of ranges vs competition.
o Support Bids & Tenders team with finding suitable product at the appropriate price to win contracts.
o Identify and develop a category range to deliver KPIs and meet customer needs in terms of value, quality and choice, feed into a range plan that articulates how the range will meet financial targets.
o Identify sourcing requirements, produce briefing packs and work with Merchandising to agree quantities.
o Work in partnership with QA to ensure product meets correct quality standards.
o Attend relevant trade fairs in the UK and overseas, maximising benefit from any trips.
o Ensure new products are available and move through the quotation/sealing/PO stage without unnecessary delay.
o Develop proficient knowledge of relevant systems (SAP, ProDigi, Competitor Monitor, PowerBI).
o Oversee the setup of products and ensure data accuracy across all relevant systems,
o Undertake sourcing activities (attendance at trade fairs and trips)
o Provide appropriate support, coaching and development for Assistant Buyer.
About You:
We are ideally looking for the following skills and experience:
o Previous experience in a relevant, commercially focussed Buyer role
o Buying related degree or CIPS qualification desirable
o Strong negotiation skills
o Experience of range analysis/range build
o Experience of delivering own brand product range desirable
o Experience of contract & rebate management
o Customer and commercial focus
o Demonstrate problem solving skills
o Able to analyse information and use insight to make decisions.
o Excellent presentation skills
o Teamwork & collaboration
o Strong communication skills, both written & verbal
o Focussed on delivery of results/KPIs
o Excellent IT skills, especially Excel and PowerPoint
o Leadership skills, able to line manage Assistant Buyer(s)
